Top Tips to Keep Your Skin Hydrated in Summer Heat

Summer is the season for relaxing on the beach or on your patio and having some fun in the sun; it shouldn’t be a time where you’re worrying about your skin’s health outside of remembering to reapply sunscreen when necessary!

Unfortunately, the summer heat is good at a lot of things, and one of those things is heating up the air that dries out your skin in return.

You’ll need to be on top of keeping your skin hydrated this season, so here are some of the best ways we’ve found to keep our skin hydrated and healthy in the summer heat!

Drink Lots of Water

Drinking water is good for your body–every part of it. Drink plenty of water to replenish your body’s supply, especially if you’re planning on being active and running around during the day.

When you sweat, your body expels its water content to cool your skin down through the evaporation of your perspiration. So, the more you sweat, the more water you need to drink to replace everything you sweat out.

Drinking two to three cups of water per hour is recommended for when the weather is temperate and not too hot or not too cold.

If you’re not a water person, then that’s alright, too. Eating water-rich foods like applesauce or watermelon can also replenish your body’s supply of water. You can also drink anything that contains water like coffee or a fun, adult beverage; the myth about these drinks dehydrating you is just that: a myth.

Use a Humidifier

If you live in a dry climate like the Southwest, then you’re likely used to hearing about living in a “dry heat”. The lack of humidity means a lack of moisture, which can harm your skin by drying it out even faster.

When living in an arid climate, it might be worthwhile to invest in a humidifier in order to add some moisture back to the air around you.

Even just turning a humidifier on as you sleep can have some benefits for your skin, so it’s not something that you need to keep running 24/7 if you’re worried about a ayer of condensation on everything you own!

Use a Luxury Serum

Serums are fabulous products for giving your skin some supplements that are tricky to get in other ways, such as an extra dose of vitamin C.

We’ve made a list of the things to consider when shopping for a serum for your convenience, and our Citrus Stem Cell Serum is a great addition to any skincare routine that’s looking for a little bit more hydration.

Fièra’s Citrus Stem Cell Serum preserves and protects the skin while improving the skin’s natural elasticity and firmness.

One of our serum’s ingredients is sodium hyaluronate, the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, one of the best hydrators out there for your skin. It’s able to hold more water than any other natural substance in comparison to its weight, so it’s perfect for trapping moisture and keeping it in your skin the whole day.
